J'ai commencé la corée.

Cette année, j'ai décidé d'étudier la coréee. En effet, je l'ai commencé depuis ce janvier. Mais, je ne suis pas habitué à se servir de lire ou écrire les charactères coréens, qui sont 'Hanguru' en ce moment. Ces charactères sont facile d'étudier, parce qu'ils répresenent la forme de notre langue ou autres choses de pronoucer.

En outre, le nombre de leurs est moins de alphabet, qui a 52 charactères.

De toute façon, d'étudier langues étrangères est très intrêssant pour moi. Je vais faire mon plan avec ma éxperience du français il y a environ 10 ans. J'éspère d'écrire les article en corée dans ce blog.

"contradiction"

I was asked about the definition of "contradiction" in math or logic. Roughly speaking, it's defined that both a proposition A and denied proposition A' are true. In Japanese math class, we face it in junior highschool or highschool in the context that "prove that square root of 2 is irrational number."

In explaining it, I found that the word "contradiction" decomposes 3 parts: "contra"+"dict"+"ion." Let us review in French.

-"contra" comes from a preposition "contre" in French, and it means like "against" in English.
-"dict" comes from the verb "dire" in French, and it's "say" in English.
-"ion" is used in creating femenine noun in French. We can find many nouns finishing "-ion" in English, and they originate French words, in general. (ex. information, installation, and so on..)

In Japanese, we say "Mu-jun" for the word "contradiction." "Mu" is sword and "Jun" is shild, and it seems to originate in Chinese.

dictation/dictée

(Here is a trial translation of this article into English.)

I practice dictation for my TOEIC test recently, and found that it was much efficient way to improve my listening skill. It's certain that I KNOW this way of studying and its efficiency, but I've not tried it until now...
Indeed, dictation in French is easier than in English for me, caz there're more exceptional rules about English pronouciation rather than French. Anyway, I'll continue this method for the time being.

金・銀

I was asked about some translactions in French by my friends. They wanted to know French expressions about '金'. Indeed, there're 2 kinds: One is 'gold,' and the other is 'money.'

In French, 'gold' in English is or, and 'money' in English is argent. Before verifying with French dictionary, I returned my answers to them like above.

Because I didn't remember quickly a translation of 'silver' in English into French, I checked with my dictionary. The answer for this question is argent. i.e. French people use a word argent for '銀'(silver) and 'お金'(money).

「お金」は「金」という文字を使いますね？英語でいうgold。
一方、フランス語では「お金」を表す語に「銀」という文字を当てます。

By chance, I found a movie, whose title is "Un duo de Français remporte le championnat de "cosplay" au Japon." In this video, you'll find that Japanese are spoken in almost all explanation. But, this theme is treated as a newspaper of "Le monde," which is, of course, written in French!!

how to pronounce "語学練習帖"?!

If you're not Japanese, it should be very difficult to pronouce (or even imagine) characters "語学練習帖." Indeed, if we, Japanese, prounouce like...

Gogaku-Renshu-Cho

A word "語学"(Gogaku) means languages, "練習"(Renshu) is a practice, "帖"(Cho) is a note. I have to study foreign languages for my job, especially in English. Also, as my hobby, I like to create French sentences, which I studied as my 3rd foreign language. French grammatical structure semms an interesting puzzle for me. I love it.

The other day, I , fortunately, had some occasions to use French in actual work, and my French stakeholders replied to me when I wrote in French. As we can easily imagine, we would be glad to read our mother language.

Once I complete English sentences with this blog, I often feel to have made effort, actually. But, some days after, I would find that such an excitement is always temporal, because my English sentences are very childish (-_-;)

In reviewing the candidates profile, I found an unfamiliar word "dilettate."
dilettante [noun] a person who does or studies sth but isn't serious about it and doesn't have much knowledge by Oxford English dictionary 2000.

In my French-Japanese dictionary, I found an example:

composer de la musique en dilettante

If we use English, we can translate it like:

compose the musical piece as one's hobby

If this word is used as plural form, we say "dilettanti" or "dilettantes." In considering the forms, I assume this word comes from latin language.

According to this article:"ディレッタントが発展させた科学" (in Japanese), "dilettante" seemed to be a precious existence for science history.

But, I'm not sure he/she is talented as to the governor...

Belief in studying foreign languages

This is a trial translation on my diary in SNS AGORIA. "老師" in Chinese means a teacher in English, but "老" is old and "師" is teacher in Japanese. In my 1st look of "老師," I imagined "an old teacher," as most Japanese imagine. I thought "老"(old) didn't have a positive meaning, but in Chinese, this belief is not correct in general.
Such a similar word confuses me in studying foreign languages, because I have to create a new image of these words in remembering it. Perhaps, it might be easier to study a language, which I cannot imagine anything...

I provide such a little bit confused words:"professor" in English and "professeur(es)" in French. The word "professor" in English means "a teacher in university," as we know. On the other hand, "professeur(es)" in French is a word, which means a teacher in high-school or in university.
As you see, we have to recognize the border between 2 words. Although we need to know belief on each word, we may often suffer in remembering slightly different words... (-_-;)

Les chansons étrangeres

J'écoute souvent les chansons français comme Patricia Kaas, Jane Birkin et Jeanne Cherhal. Certainement, j'aime ses chansons, et puis je voudrais étudier la prononciation en français. Un ami m'a dit que l'étude des langages étrangeres est même que chanter des chansons étrangeres. Par exemple, on doit penser la prononciation, l'intonation, le rhythm et les autres... Ils sont les facteurs de la préparation de chanter, n'est-ce pas?

Quand je les étudie, je vais se reappeler sa histoire.

Then, she replied to me in English and Japanese:

Kono message ga ikkai dake okurarete imasu. Nido okuru kotowa dekimasuka.(This message is sent only once in your transaction, and can you send this message twice?)...

And she also writes in the bottom of her e-mail.

Kore wa hon'yaku ga muzukashisugimashita. Gomen'nasai.

She doesn't need to apologize to me... Indeed, these Japanese sentences are made with polite-remark as you see , and perhaps she writes them by herself. Anyway, I didn't expect that she used roma-ji in her e-mail. Similar format she uses was interesting for me, and it surprised me very much, and made me smile (^o^).
This is, actually, not essential work for our task, but I'm glad to receive a message as above. Such an interesting wit would motivate us to study foreign languages. I continue to study them!!

Le maniement de Docs & Spredsheets

J'ai donné une question à mes amis dans SNS sur le maniement de ''Docs et Spredsheets,'' qui est une application d'ordinateur par Google. Nous nous servons de ''Docs'' comme un instrument des documents, et puis, ''Spreadsheets'' est utilisé quand nous calculons. Elles sont des applications comme ''Word'' ou ''Excel'' de Microsoft.

Un ami dit qu'il se sers des applications comme mémorandum. Certainement, c'est bon maniement, parce qu'il ne faut pas préparer un mémoire comme FD et autres. En route, on peut se sers de BD gratuiment!!

Il dit qu'il croit la base de données de Google, et il toujours se sers des applications. Les applications de Google n'a pas moins fonctionalités, mais ça suffit pour son cahier.

Il y a beaucoup de changes par Google, je pense, et je vais fixer mon regard sur la compétition entre Google et Microsoft.

Danser le tango!!

Je suis allé à soirée dansante avec mes amies. On a organisé dans un studio prés de Hamamatsu-cho, ''Dash-G.'' (en japonais) C'est ma première experiénce de danser dans ma vie, et j'étais un peu nervous avant commancer à danser. Par chance, j'ai vu un couple, qui a exercé Tango-dance pour pleusieur années, et puis ils étaient habire à danser beaucoup.Ils ont conseillé la façon de danse, et ils m'ont remonté, quand j'ai tort sur notre pas. Mais, je pouvais danser avec la music, et ai goûté ma danse ce jour-là.
Je voudrais aller à practicer mes pas sur tango-dance. J l'aime beaucoup!!

As a trial, I tried to hear French in this link, with which I can hear and see French for free!! Just in case, the latter link is written in Japanese. Sorry!!

RSS of "Le monde"

I usually use RSS for reading internet news every day, because it provides me them automatically. Also, I love netvibes.com tool because of its design. The attached file is a screen copy of some RSS reader, and you'll find that le monde RSS FEED of "Le monde," which is French major newspaper/internet news.

As to its design, I've not seen pictures in RSS FEED, so I was very surprised at seeing "Le Monde" internet news.

In reading French articles, I have to use my French-English or French-Japanese dictionary many times, and it takes so much to read it over. I wish I can read French newspaper faster...
